Refinery Maintenance Contract Awarded To Wood Group

Refinery Maintenance Contract Awarded To Wood Group

Friday 13th October 2017

The [Wood Group=] has won a five-year maintenance contract with oil giant Total for its Lindsey Oil Refinery in Lincolnshire.

It will involve delivering onshore maintenance services for the refinery, with chief executive of the firm Robin Watson explaining that the company's "commitment to safety", as well as its extensive experience in the offshore oil sector, helped it win the contract.

"Our extensive capabilities in offshore maintenance gained from over two decades of working with Total position us uniquely to maximise the productivity while maintaining the integrity of this significant asset," Mr Watson added.

The contract will begin in January next year, and there is the option to extend it by a further two years if both parties are happy.

The Wood Group is already providing maintenance to a number of other Total sites around the UK, including four offshore platforms on the UK continental shelf - Alywn, Dunbar, Elgin and Franklin. The firm is also working with the oil company to maintain two other onshore sites, the Shetland Gas Plant and the St Fergus Gas Terminal.

Having access to the highest quality parts, such as Hy Lok valves, is essential for any firm offering maintenance services such as these in the on- or offshore oil sector.

A recent report into the UK's oil industry suggested that there may only be ten more years of production left in our oil fields though, which could see us having to import more fuel.

Research by the University of Edinburgh estimates that just ten per cent of the UK's original recoverable oil and gas remains.
